June 23rd, 2008 Surf Forecast - 900AM EDT

Waves this morning at the Washout (900AM EDT), ANKLE-KNEE high with an occasional THIGH high set and SEMI-CHOPPY conditions. Tide is incoming and only some improvement is expected.

A quickly moving front will pass the area tonight with southerly winds out ahead of it and NW winds post-frontal late tonight. A small glassy session is expected for tomorrow morning. A broad area of high pressure will be sneaking in from the west and a upper level low will be setting up across the Great Lakes region over then next 72 hours. With current models, we will be located between these two pressure systems and a consistent southerly winds is expected to set up where these two air masses converge. Current wave and swell models are suggesting these sustained southerly winds will be enough to develop some south/southeast windswell/groundswell throughout the work week. This is all very dependent on how fast the surface high pressure builds westwards towards the eastcoast. The faster, the better... A couple of upper level short wave troughs will be advecting across the region over the next 180 hours, which will disrupt the surface winds and might help clean up the waves. Expect building southerly windswell this week. Wednesdays forecast will be worth reading...

BOTTOM LINE: QUICK FRONT TONIGHT WITH SMALL GLASSY SESSION IN THE MORNING, HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS IN WITH SOUTHERLY WINDS, WAVES SLOWLY PICK UP MID-LATE WEEK WITH SOUTHERLY WINDSWELL CONDITIONS BECOMING MORE ORGANIZED LATE WEEK, WAITING AND WATCHING THE SOUTH WINDS TO DEVELOP MID-LATE WEEK.
