September 30th, 2008 Surf Forecast - 815AM EDT

Waves this morning at the Washout (815AM EDT), KNEE-THIGH high with WAIST high sets and GLASSY conditions with light NW winds. Tide is incoming.

Weak surface winds are expected over the next 24 hours or so will allow for some weak THIGH-WAIST swell reach the beach. Waves are expected to drop off quickly this afternoon. Some light afternoon chop is also expected. A deep upper level long wave trough is developing across the Great Lakes region. This upper level long wave trough will be moving eastwards over the next 48-72 hours. SW winds are expected to pick up out ahead of a weak cold front, which will be crossing the region Thursday. Some weak SW chop can be expected pre-frontal with a very brief northwesterly wind clean up session either late Thursday or early Friday. Global models are indicating a easterly/southeasterly wind fetch setting up later in the week as a surface high pressure builds offshore this weekend. This is looking only to produce some small windswell and chop.

BOTTOM LINE: SMALL SWELL WITH AFTERNOON LIGHT CHOP, SW WINDS START UP WEDNESDAY BUILDING SOME SMALL SW WINDCHOP AS WEAK FRONT APPROACHES, BRIEF NW WINDS THURSDAY WITH SMALL GLASSY CLEAN UP, SURFACE HIGH BUILDS OFFSHORE SETTING UP SOME EASTERLY WINDS LATER THIS WEEKEND INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK.
