October 2nd, 2008 Surf Forecast - 900AM EDT

Waves this morning at the Washout (900AM EDT), ANKLE-KNEE with rare THIGH-WAIST high sets and SEMI-GLASSY conditions. Tide is incoming.

Light to moderate N-ENE winds over the next few days as a weak surface high pressure builds across the region. Global models are predicting a building upper level ridge of high pressure across the Mid-West 84-120 hours out. This upper level ridge will have a surface high pressure associated with it, which will slide slowly offshore and set up NE winds late weekend into early next week. Current forecasts are having trouble with the strength of the NE winds, but should be plenty to build some WAIST-CHEST NE windswell and chop across the South Carolina coastline starting Sunday into Monday. Other than that, not much to talk about...

BOTTOM LINE: SMALL SWELL TRICKLING IN, BEST ON A LONGBOARD AT HIGHTIDE, WEAK WINDS WITH SMALL WAVES OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS, NE WINDS SET UP LATE WEEKEND BUILDING SOME NE WINDSWELL AND CHOP IN THE WAIST-CHEST+ RANGE.
