May 9th, 2008 Surf Forecast - 900AM EDT

Waves this morning at the Washout (900AM EDT), CHEST-SHOULDER high with HEAD high peaks and CHOPPY AND DISORGANIZED conditions. Tide is incoming and some showers and thunderstorms should help the wave form later this morning.

Strong SW winds have persisted over the last 12 hours or so as a frontal boundary approaches from the west. Currently a line of showers are located over North Charleston and will reach FOlly Beach, SC in the next hour or two. Once the boundary moves offshore winds will weaken helping to clean up the surf. This will be the time to get on it. Winds will pick back up this afternoon in the W-WSW @ 10-15kts range, but will leave some windswell in the water throughout the afternoon. This windswell looks to drop off late today into tomorrow. A couple of low pressure systems will be moving across the area this weekend with the best chance at some more developing southerly windswell Sunday into Monday. Tough forecast for late weekend.

BOTTOM LINE: CLEAN UP SESSION THIS MORNING, SOUTHERLY WINDSWELL DROPPING OFF, SOME LEFTOVER SWELL TODAY INTO TOMORROW, ANOTHER SOUTHERLY WIND EVENT ON SUNDAY INTO MONDAY.
