May 14th, 2008 Surf Forecast - 900AM EDT

Waves this morning at the Washout (900AM EDT),  KNEE-THIGH high and SEMI-CHOPPY conditions. Tide is outgoing. Waves are expected to build on the incoming tide this afternoon as winds veer.

Strong northerly winds across the Mid-Atlantic States has develop a substantial N-NE swell. Most of this swell is heading to Florida, but should fill in along the Georgia/South Carolina coastlines. Local winds will continue to veer southerly as this surface high pressure moves eastwards setting up a southerly wind fetch out ahead of a frontal boundary for Friday into Saturday. Waves will be building today in the STOMACH-CHEST range for the afternoon high tide with some moderate southerly chop. As the swell begins to fill in today into tomorrow, southerly winds will create a more mix swell for tomorrow into Friday. Waves will remain WAIST high or larger during this time period with the best chance for larger peaks on the incoming tides. Early mornings will be worth a check for somewhat cleaner conditions but smaller. Keep an eye on the frontal boundary approaching from the west for development of the southwest winds and potential clean up session post frontal.

BOTTOM LINE: N-NE SWELL FILLING IN TODAY UNDER SEMI-CHOPPY CONDITIONS IN THE STOMACH RANGE, WINDS VEER CREATING A MIX SWELL WITH LOCAL CHOP THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY, FRONTAL BOUNDARY APPROACHES FROM THE WEST WITH INCREASING SOUTHERLY WINDS AND A SHOT AT A CLEAN UP SESSION LATE FRIDAY INTO EARLY SATURDAY, MIX SWELL BEGINS TO DROP OFF SATURDAY INTO SUNDAY.
