| if today is like last night, it is solid shoulder with drifty conditions. washing machine like, yes, but fun if you havn't seen sizable waves for a minute. paddle-outs are a workout and you will be exhausted if you try to fight the current. drops on low tide last night were fun and seemed to close out after that 80% of the time. rainy and windy today again. it would be worth it for me but there will be no clean waves. | |

| The NE side of the pier has been fun the last few days. Surfed there after six pm. over this past weekend...got some longer lines that connected. Yesterday afternoon around 4:45 a local surfer got arrested by the idiot FB Public Safety officers for surfing at the wrong time of day. It was after a severe storm had passed. There was no lifeguards, no fishermen on the pier and not a soul on the beach or in the water. What is up with cops??? Picking on a kid having fun, not hurting anyone while there were at least six illegal aliens hanging out under the pier. | |

| Here we go with that locals only crap. The thing is, some of us have to make an effort on our days off to enjoy your beach. It's kind of nice to be able to check the conditions before we make that long gas consuming drive to your back yard. Thank god for the NOAA buoys, web cams, and surf shop reports. My only issue is that if you're going to offer a much needed service, don't tease us. Maybe one day I'll be able to track sand through my kitchen too. | |

Anyone have about 6 or 7 million laying around? We could build a Typhoon Lagoon style wave pool! Hey, it looks like a little bit of a small workable right every now and then at the NE side of the pier @1pm...oh yeah, the Folly Beach Gods have forbidden us to surf there, so never mind. | |

| Well at least there are some nice looking ladies out on the sand to check out. But I'd rather have waves. This flat spell has to be broken some time. Saw a couple of small black tip sharks at the washout the other day, some cannon jelly fish too. August usually has a bloom of those moon jellies, you know the ones that have those long hair like tenicales...and peeing on it doesn't work. So watch out come July and August. And oh...at 9:40am...not much to surf on at the wash out. | |

Southerly winds have been slow to develop because of a weak low pressure offshore. But, southerly winds are now being reported at FBIS1 and should pick up tomorrow afternoon into Sunday. If I had to call a "best" day with the current models, I would say Sunday with building SW wind chop in the THIGH-WAIST range. During the past couple of mornings, the best waves have been reported a couple of hours after the low tide (1000AM-100PM) before the water fills in, so you might have a shot at some nice fun lines tomorrow before low tide and during mid-tide if the winds stays off of it. Looks like those folks are betting on a strong SW winds on Sunday and a frontal passage on Monday, leaving some leftovers in the water. I would agree, but overall, things are just looking weak. Any leftovers will be VERY short lived... Late next week is looking like a decent shot at some ENE-E swell filling in along the Western Atlantic. The building surface high pressure over the Central Atlantic and the materializing easterly trades will set up a nice long wind fetch. The length and strength of the fetch is yet to be determined. The low in the Central Caribbean I have been talking about has petered out of the models over the last 24 hours, but the models still have something brewing down there. Just not organized enough to spark much interest… |
